CHIROPRACTIC

COLCHESTER

What is chiropractic and how does it work?

Chiropractic is a straight forward method of adjusting the bones of your body to improve the alignment of your skeleton, and through this process help the nervous system to work more efficiently.
The purpose of chiropractic care is to realign and rebalance your body to relieve pain, discomfort, increase mobility and provide a route to better health.

Misalignment of the joints can occur for many reasons; some of the most common are incorrect lifting, car or sporting accidents, falls, stress and poor posture. This can lead to pain, numbness, pins and needles or restricted mobility.

Chiropractic Benefits

Some of the conditions that can benefit from Chiropractic Care

While most patients pop in to see the chiropractor for neck and back pain, there are a host of other benefits associated with regular chiropractic care. Browse through some of the most common conditions and associated benefits below.

Back | Neck | Shoulder Pain

Chiropractic adjustments of the neck (cervical manipulations), loosen up the joints of the cervical vertebrae in the neck.

This can reduce pain caused by pinched nerves, muscle spasms, strains and other contributing factors.

Joint Pain | Discomfort

Similarly to the way in which we adjust the spine, we can also adjust the joints to relieve tension and promote efficient function.

It generally doesn’t hurt, but instead it helps many patients find almost immediate relief.

Migraines

Chiropractic treatment is an exceptional option to greatly decrease the negative effects of migraines for patients.

Misalignments in parts of the spine can lead to muscle tension and irritate nerves controlling blood flow to the head.

Muscular Aches

By using spinal manipulations, we can relieve pain in your muscles.

These spinal adjustments will increase blood flow and nerve conductivity to the muscles that are experiencing pain.

Supplementary Treatments

We offer a range of adjunctive treatments providing a more efficient route to resolving many differing issues.

We will often incorporate parts of these different treatments into our sessions as a blended service for our customers. You are able to book individual sessions exclusively for any of our supplementary treatments.

Holistic Massage

The term “holistic” is derived from the Greek word “holos”, meaning “whole”.

Holistic massage treats the whole body as a single entity and is comprised of several unique techniques involving stroking, kneading and cupping.

Holistic massage can lead to a reduction in physical tension, better circulation and deeper breathing, providing a sustained level of oxygen to the body.

Kinesiotaping

Kinesio Taping is used to change muscle tone, move lymphatic fluids, correct movement patterns and improve posture.

This is a unique method of applying Kinesio Tex Tape in a specific manner to create change in the aforementioned systems.

Benefits of kinesiotaping include a decrease in pain by applying pressure to the affected area(s). Improved posture, muscle support and better circulation.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a form of treatment that involves inserting very thin needles through a person’s skin at specific points on the body to various depths.

Acupuncture works by stimulating sensory nerves under the skin and in the muscles.

Benfits of acupuncture can include a reduction of stress, back and joint pain, neck tension, relief from headaches and fewer injuries on the body due to repetitive strain.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a more intensive treatment that is administered using firm pressure and slower stroking movements.

This allows the practitioner to reach the deeper layer of muscle and the connective tissue (fascia) surrounding the muscle.

Often used to combat chronic aches and pain in the shoulders, upper and lower back, leg muscles and neck. Can also improve limited mobility and posture.
